The cupboards are bare:
I've said goodbye to my fabulous office view:
(can you believe that view??)
I've had my wonderful official sendoff from work and our bags are (sort of, not really) packed:
We vacate our house tomorrow and are exhausted and excited and nervous and scared and happy and some of us have been on the brink of tears for two days straight. Sadie, however, has been a rock and is navigating us all through this transition with a grace and maturity that I really admire. Hats off to her!

25 days
25 days until departure and I have blogged not at all. I now understand why all those folks out there with the same sort of great idea as us never blogged about how they actually got there. It turns out that with all the preparations and mental ups and downs and lists and packing and eating at great restaurants, that I don't have the time to blog. Or, more accurately, I don't have the mental capacity.
We've done what we can do from here to prepare us for living there (rented a place, got our passports in order, bought rain jackets, became a facebook friend of the local online newspaper) and then there is a whole set of things that get put in the "deal with it when we get there" pile (getting a car, communication options, visa requirements). In between are the endless random small things that cause me to wake at 3 am making mental lists in my head (dye hair, see dentist, what shoes will sadie bring? how many books can I take?). It's exhausting. And thrilling.
I'll do what I can from here, but blogging may have to officially go into the "deal with it when we get there" pile.
